Hopkins' New House - Day 9

Today's temperature was much milder than the past week's and the roofers were busy laying shingles on Brian & Tish Hopkins' new house.

By the afternoon the temperature was in the low 30's and  the roofers were done for the day. It looks like they may have come up a few bundles of shingles short. The top section of the south roof is missing a few rows of shingles and some of the ridge cap is still needing shingles.

The sky was clear, the wind was calm, but the morning  temperature was -2 degrees F. as the roofing crew started working on Brian & Tish Hopkins' new house.

By 11:00PM the temperature was in the teens and a large section of the roof on the back side (sunny side) of the house was shingled.

By 4:00PM the crew was attaching the ridge vent on sections of the house.

As the afternoon sun started to set, the temperature was in the mid-20's and the crew had completed large sections of the roof.

Hopkins' New House - Day 7

The temperature dropped to 0 degrees F. overnight and by 10:30AM the frost was still clinging to the roof on Brian & Tish Hopkins' new house. The cold weather didn't slow the framing crew as they finished installing the window in the house.

All the interior walls have been installed and metal brackets are attached to secure the walls to the roof rafters.

Other than installing the entrance doors, which are scheduled to be installed  later, the  crew was done with all of their work by 2:30PM on the seventh day of framing.

Hopkins' New House - Day 6

There wasn't any activity at Brian & Tish Hopkins' new house yesterday due to the cold weather but the framing crew was back today. More building materials arrived today, including bundles of roofing shingles which were stacked in the roof awaiting a roofing crew.

By 1:00PM the temporary stairs were installed to make access the second floor easier.

Interior walls on the second floor were going in but there was still some open space at 1:00PM.

By 4:30PM most of the second floor walls were in place.

The room layouts are starting to take shape as the tub and shower units are positioned in the rough openings.

A stack of wall studs in one of the front bedrooms dwindles as the new walls go up.

The windows are starting to go in.

Hopkins' New House - Day 5

The weather turned colder over night and there was a light dusting of snow but the framing crew didn't slow down on the construction of Brian & Tish Hopkins' new house.

Roof framing on the north end of the house at 11:00AM.

The weekend brought a couple inches of snow and the framing crew was busy working on Brian & Tish Hopkins' new house

Today is the forth day of work by the framing crew and by 10:00AM they had the second floor exterior walls in place and ready to start on the roof.

The colder weather over the weekend firmed up the ground and some rough grading was done to prepare for a crane and trucks of roof trusses.

By 4:00PM the roof trusses were in place and the crew was installing the roof sheathing.

A crane was brought in to lift a heavy steel  I-beam and position it in the garage area.

Setting the I-beam in place. This I-beam spans the length of the garage area and will support the second floor living space over the garage.

With the I-beam in place the crew installed the floor joists for the second floor. The garage floor needs to be filled with compacted stone before a concrete floor is poured.
