Raccoon Visit

I thought a very large grey cat was on our front porch, but I soon realized it was a raccoon.



As I watched, the raccoon crawled onto the support under the bench and started to take a nap. Upon closer investigation the raccoon was looking for a place to sleep off a bad encounter it had with a porcupine.

What's in your backyard?

I placed a game camera in a neighbor's backyard (by their request) and got the following photos.

Mother bear with two of the five cubs. The neighbor did see these bears as they walked by a window.

This raccoon shows up all the time.

Night time activity

During the daytime we only see a small number of the wild animals in our neighborhood. Here are a few photos taken with digital game cameras of night time activity.


I created a bird feeder from an empty coffee container and suspended by a wire in front of the camera. It didn't take long for the local raccoons to find the feeder. This raccoon studies the feeder's design.
