Pipeline Construction

The pipeline crew was back at our wetlands area to finish the pipe laying across the wetlands. The first job was to prime the pump and get the water out of the trench.

Sandbag dams were installed in the pipeline trench to support the pipe and control water migration after the trench is back-filled.

Delivering another load of sandbags.

While part of the pipeline crew works to install sandbags another crew is cleaning and sandblasting the welds where the new section of pipe was installed yesterday. Note the ice and mud in the trench. The overnight temperature dropped well below freezing and was causing moisture in the compressed air line of the sandblaster to freeze.

Once the welds are sandblasted clean a protective coating is applied.

Back-filling the trench near the sandbag dam.

Loose dirt is placed over the pipe by using a special bucket that screens out the rocks.

By the end of the day the new section of pipeline is back-filled and erosion control mating install in the wetlands area.
