Feeding Time

This year's spring fawns are growing rapidly as they feed on the green grass.

Sometimes the fawns want a change from grass and look for some "comfort food".

Storm Damage

Our personal weather station has recorded 8.38 inches of rain since June 30th and it is again raining this afternoon. Earlier today I was able to survey some of the storm damage around our lawn.

Near the bottom of our lawn the drainage ditch from the township road jumped it's bank and cut a new ditch as it ran into our lawn.

The roaring stream at the bottom of our lawn has quieted to a babbling brook allowing me to survey the damage. A very large branch from a maple tree was blown into the stream forming a dam to stop rocks flowing downstream.

The tree stump at the left is from an ash tree I cut near the stream this spring. The roaring stream had scoured the stump out of the ground and carried it 100 yards downstream.

Several trees along the embankment have been undercut and will soon fall into the stream.

Grandkids

We're not always present for some of our Grandkid's milestones but did capture the moment when Myra lost her first tooth.

Cheers to 22 Years

After 22 years of service our son Chuck is retiring from the military.

The retirement ceremony took place at Chuck and Nikki's property in Iowa known as "Beebe Bottoms".

Wind Damage

We flew into the Scranton airport last night at 9:00PM and were met by a strong wind/rain storm on our way home. The trip from the airport to home should have taken 1.5 hours, but took almost 3 hours. Half way home we were stopped for about an hour due to an accident involving a car that hit a tree that had fallen across Route 6.

The local fire department was clearing fallen trees from the road when we got within a mile of home. We attempted to use the south end of Joyce Road but were stopped a couple of hundred yards short by a large tree across the road. Try the northern route. It was now almost midnight and we could see several trees down along Route 187. Our electric power was off when we got home and restored before noon. This tree almost blocked the north end of Joyce Road. I came back at day break with a chain saw and widened the opening.

200 yards north of Dollar General and next to our corn field. Besides the large Maple trees in the yard, there was a large pine tree, upper left of the photo, that was blown from the edge of the corn field into the trailer court.
