I never know what I'll find as I drive around the neighborhood so I always try to have a camera with me. As I drove through our cabin property I saw this deer near our driveway with its friend, a redwing blackbird on its head.
As I watched, the bird would move back and forth from the deer's head to its back as the deer continued to graze.
The deer made no attempt to shake off the bird and even folded its ears down for the bird.
This may be a symbiotic relationship in which the bird removes insects from the deer. The deer gets rid of the bugs and the bird gets a meal.
