Turtles

I found this Eastern Painted Turtle (Chrysemys picta) taking a leisurely walk around our pond and enjoying the wet weather.

The turtle most likely left the safety of the pond to lay its eggs in the fields and lawn around our cabin. We find the holes from turtle nests in our lawn, but most of the time the nests have been raided by raccoons, possums (opossums), foxes and other predators
